Wind Growth
Electricity Generating Capacity produced from wind grew 26.5% per year 2001-2005. (1&2)
The U.S. wind energy industry installed over 5,000 megawatts in 2007, increasing the nation’s
total wind power generating capacity by 45% in a single year.
(3)
In 2008 global wind energy capacity grew by 28.8%.
In the past two years the U.S. wind industry has doubled installed capacity, achieving in two
years what had previously taken more than two decades.
10,000-MW was reached in 2006, 20,000-MW in summer 2008.
